The Diocese of Irinjalakuda, the offspring of Catholic Church of India has committed themselves a special role to play in the field of Education, Health-Care and Social welfare of the marginalized community. In connection with sacerdotal silver jubilee of Mar James Pazhayattil , the first Bishop in Diocese of Irinjalakuda have birth to an offshoot “ St.James’ Hospital,Chalakudy in 1989.The Hospital symbolize the Care & Cure mission of Jesus Christ facilitating the Health Care ministries to the suffering segment of the society, irrespective of cast,creed,race or religion. By continuing the successful journey in health sector, based on the motto “We Foster Health” grew by leaps and bounds adding various specialties in the great quest for excellence. The flagship of the Hospital administrated by Diocese of Irinjalakuda, especially the competent leaders having various administrative profiles. The main back bone of this hospital comprising of competent team of professional & experienced medical team with support of sophisticated latest technology in order to deliver high precision of Quality.
Thereafter an Adhoc committee was formed to find out the best place to locate the hospital. After seeing so many sights the committee recommended the present place at Chalakudy to locate the hospital. Immediately, thereafter, a Trust by name ‘St. James’ Hospital Trust’ was formed in the same year to implement the new project and Rev. Fr. Thomas Panjikkaran who had been the vicar of St.Joseph’s Church, North Chalakudy was appointed as the first director of the hospital.
The Civil work for the hospital was started in the year 1986. The foundation stone of St.James’ Hospital chalakudy was blessed by the Pope John Paul II on 7th February 1986 and it was laid by Mar James Pazhayattil on 10th September of the same year. The Hospital was inaugurated on 10th of September 1989 by Mar Antony Cardinal Padiyara, and Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly.

2) Associate Directors- Appointed to assist the Director to administer and manage all the Institutions under the Trust.The Trustee Board is supported by three advisory committees namely Board of Administration, Management committee and Development Committee.
